Okay, it's been just over two months since we last blogged here...

Between August 19, 2013, and sometime about a year later, look for our posts on our Mission Blog:
<www.hablamosdecristo.blogspot.com>. It will be in Spanish, because we're sharing with a broader audience. Enjoy! See you back here in the fall of 2014.

Here we are in front of the Provo Temple, which faces the Missionary Training Center where we spent ten celestial days with fellow missionaries, beginning August 19.

Mount Miguel Pops Concert 2013

That's me: last chair out of eight trombones. I only played 30% of the notes on the page, but truly enjoyed myself!

The program included pieces by Duke Ellington, the theme music from "The Incredibles", and The Mount Miguel Hymn. You can see the hymn over my left shoulder. Notice my class ring. I did enjoy high school!

Aztec Invitational 2013 - March 15 & 16

Athletes from BYU, UVU, SUU, and U of U were here, along with some from Clemson, Texas Tech, UCLA, North Dakota, local community colleges, etc. It was wonderful to have most of Utah right here for a free meet. A Ute coach commented to me: "We're just following the good weather."

You see here some BYU hurdlers & sprinters. The first photo is of "Beano", a freshman 110 hurdler from LA. The man to my left in the photo is his family's friend, who hurdled and played football for the Y in the early 90s, and whose daughter currently hurdles for them as well. Finally, there are some sequences from the Lady Cougar 4x400 heat victory. Oh, and the Aztecs were there, too, in all-black uniforms. They did not win their heat, despite this early lead.

Below you see me in the 1968-69 Banyan photo of the Cross Country Team. Below that is a news clipping covering a U of U "Beehive Invitational" circa 1972. I'm the runner with one foot still on the hurdle. I took fourth place that day, which was probably my best showing during my college career. It was a pleasure today and yesterday to rekindle my kinship with my school and my sport!

Grandpa's Army Uniform Pressed Again into Service

Dana Point Festival of Whales Parade 2013. Today I represented the soldiers and marines who provided coastal defense on Point Loma during both World Wars. The volunteer at my side represents Rosie the Riveter. I'm including some pictures of parade balloons for the toddlers who otherwise might be bored when it comes to viewing blogs.

In this picture, I'm standing with the superintendent of Cabrillo National Monument, his father, and a park ranger.

Recital at Garrett's Music Store

Appreciative fans respond to local talent. You'll have to see Nate or me for movies of the talent!
